BWOE-F.R.E.E.

BWOE-F.R.E.E. stands for Focusing on Respect
Excellence and Empowerment.

BWOE-F.R.E.E is a mentor program designed to: assist young ladies in developing respect for themselves and others; promote excellence in mind, body and spirit; and empower youth through positive relationships.

BWOE FREE was founded in May 2005 in Orlando, Florida by the Central Florida Chapter of Black Women of Essence, Inc (BWOE). In August 2007 the program expanded in Philadelphia, PA. After BWOE moved its headquarters to Baltimore Maryland in April 2010 the Baltimore Chapter of BWOE launched the 3rd Chapter of BWOE FREE in January 2011 at the Steuart Hill Academic Academy in Southwest, Baltimore.

 

 

 

OUR MISSION AND PURPOSE

BWOE - F.R.E.E is committed to assisting middle school aged young ladies advance into womanhood with self confidence and a positive outlook on life.

This program also addresses issues facing middle school girls such as: self-esteem, social interaction and making conscientious life decisions through positive group and one-to-one mentoring sessions.

The purpose of this program is to empower middle school young ladies in grades 5-9 through positive relationships while promoting excellence in mind (self esteem and self worth), body (image and nutrition) and spirit (our purpose in life).

January is National Mentoring Month

 

National Mentoring Month is the time each year when our nation spotlights the importance of mentors and the need for every child to have a caring adult in his or her life.

When you serve as a mentor, you enrich your own life as much as you do the life of a child.
